Sound oddity/problem

Jun 16, 2005 12:16AM PDT

The short of it:
A fairly new PC is only getting sound from one speaker. Speakers, themselves are fine.

Setup:
Motherboard: MSI K8T Neo
CPU: Athlon 3200+ CPU
Memory: 512
Video: NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT
On MB: Realtek AC97 audio

What I've tried/learned:
Headphones, speakers, etc., all result in the same thing. Only the "right speaker" feed is being heard. I installed a SB Live! card into the machine and got the same results. I did fiddle around with that a bit and found that if I set the SB Live! to being headphones, I get both left and right speaker feeds out the right speaker, but still no sound out the left.

I reloaded drivers, etc. This one baffles me. Any suggestions? Anyone come across this before?

Go into control panel and select sb live as the default playback device in sound and audio devices.
Be sure your jacks are in the proper location.
Good luck
