are you using a on-board or a card. If u instaled the card just re-install it that should help.
Something interesting is happening with the sound on my computer.
I am using Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2. My computer has a Pentium 4 3.6 Ghz. I also have 250 GB external and 250 GB internal HDDs, NVIDIA graphics card and am using some audio software called Realtek HD Audio Manager. I have some ALTEC Lansing speakers connected as well.
Anyway, for certain software (Ages of Empires games,
Microsoft Money, and others) I am not getting any sound. I also don't get the little music interlude that plays when Windows starts up or shuts down. However, I am able to get sound using WMP or VLC or other stuff. I can view DVDs and TV without any problems.
The interesting thing is that when I plugged in my headphones, I get sound on everything including those programs that I mentioned above.
I've used those Altec speakers on another computer and they worked fine. So, it is probably the Realtek software. The speakers only seem to work when the setting is set for 8 speakers, even though there are only two speakers plus a woofer. If I set the number of speakers for 2,4 or 6, I get no sound from the speakers.
Anyone have any ideas?
