Did it ever work?

In reply to: Sound help

Or are you trying to install this sound device? Is this on-board sound or a PCI or AGP sound card?

Since you told us nothing about your system, all I have is questions. And sorry, I do not do research on machines by model number. Tell us about your system specifics please. And exact error messages are helpful.

OK sorry about that, im not very computer oriented. Im running windows xp, pentium 4, the computer is from 2004 i think. 160gb hard drive, 512 mb of ram. that's what the stickers say.

I get this error message when i try and open the volume control "There are on active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices go to Control Panel, click Printers and other hardware, and then click Add Hardware. This program will now close"
there is nothing in the hardware installer to fix this.

When i open itunes "itunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback man not operate properly"
So that might be a clue for something, but idk what.

in Device manager, under sound, video, and game controllers, there is a yellow exclamation point next to "Microsoft UAA Function Driver for High Definition Audio-Realtek 880/860"
I have tried multiple times to reinstall this. I got the file from emachines website, still didn't work. Device status : "this deice cannot start. (code 10)" The troubleshoot says to uninstall, then reinstall..but this hasn't helped. Ive tried about 6 times.

I think that's all i got. There was one more error message but i don't remember what it said, or how i got it to come up.

Just so you know.

Most if not all those realteks require a driver call MS UAA (see google) before you install the sound driver. This one is driving many to repair counters across the world.
