Sound crackle and then freeze

by jwmeyer76 / July 21, 2009 6:13 AM PDT

I got a new HP PC recently to play Empire:Total War. Well I got Empire:Total War and it worked perfectly on my new system. Then I got bored with it so I thought I would load up Med2:Total War. Now I not sure if this caused the problem but after about an hour of playing the game the sound would start to crackle and continue to get worse until the whole thing froze up. I reboot the computer several times and the same thing kept happening. So, I thought maybe Vista 64bit is not meant for this game. I went back to playing Empire: Total War and now the same thing happens to me when I am playing it. I am not sure what would be causing this kind of thing. Does anyone have any clue? Let me know if you need any tech info on my computer I have the i7 Intel processr and the ATI 4850 graphics card with 8 gigs of RAM. Thanks for any help anyone can give to me.
