Sound button in System Tray has stopped working

Clicking on the the Sound button in my System Tray does not provide any more the slider for changing the sound volume.

(I tried a few different ways I could think of such a going to the Control Panel to rectify the matter, but did not succeed.)

Please help.

Thank you.

I was checking your prior posts and

See you try to use Windows project to's display/TV system. As such my ideas are:
1. Reboot.
2. Set the speakers to what you had before.
3. Reboot, try again.

Thank you, Bob.

Thank you, Bob.

I had tried rebooting earlier, and that had not worked.

So I rebooted again as you suggested, and then, for good measure, kicked my PC a couple of times by putting on my boots; and that worked!

In fact, rebooting had worked this time without the kicking part.

Thanks for your prompt and highly knowledgeable help to thousands of CNet help seekers.

Have a great day.
