Sound/Audio Synch problems

Dec 13, 2004 3:08AM PST

I'm trying to edit a long video into chapters so that I can pick the sections I want to view. The video clip is about a half hour long. I captured it using an ATI All-In-Wonder Pro 7500 with the latest ATI software. The resulting video plays back fine and the sound is in-synch with the video. When I try to edit the software into individual chapters using Roxio's VideoWave the audio on the resulting clips are out of synch with the video.

Any suggestions?? I don't want to try to strip the audio and move it around until I get it synched, are the other editting programs better at keeping the sound and video insynch??

Here's my workaround. I cut up the video with VIRTUAL DUB.

Best of luck,

Bob

Thank you. I'll try that. Virtual Dub is still free right??

I've had similar problem with the 9700.

I can see video drop outs which cause the out of synch. My guess is that the ATI playback software is written to cover these dropouts. My plan, if I ever get around to doing it, is to move the video back into synch. I have used both Sony's Vegas and Adobe's Premier Pro. Both can do this fairly readily. I don't know if Roxio or Nero can do this.

Actually it's only after I try to trim the video or break it into parts that the sound and video go out of synch. The original movie plays fine but when I try to break it into chapters the problem starts.
