Sort function won't work

by Ira_a / May 15, 2009 8:46 PM PDT

I entered a software category (specifically video screen capture) and set thee drop menu to sort by user ratings. like so many times before I keep getting oddly unsorted results - not by ABC, not ratings, nor download date or rate... how useless can this get?

for instance, try this link:

http://download.cnet.com/windows/video-capture-software/?tag=mncol%3Bsort&filter=licenseName%3D%22Free%22|&rpp=10&sort=userRating+asc

this has been going on for (months? years?) and I finally bother to create a user and post about this, it amazes me how come nobody else complained, unless the search feature of the forums is broken as well...

I've submitted a new report...
by John.Wilkinson / May 16, 2009 5:56 AM PDT

There have been numerous reports of filtering and sorting issues on download.com in recent months and, while some are corrected, the fixes invariably lead to new issues. I have submitted a new bug report, but it may not be addressed until next week and, unfortunately, may not provide a conclusive end to the ongoing issues.

Regards,
John

I won't go into it here but it looks like it's affecting both search results and category pages. It's not an insubstantial thing to fix, unfortunately, should have it working correctly by end of day next Monday. I'll post again once the fix is live.

I really want to thank you for calling this out. I'm also surprised that it hasn't been reported before, although it doesn't seem to happen for every search.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
