Sorry, I didn't record all the names of this pest.

by R. Proffitt Forum moderator / September 14, 2004 2:06 AM PDT

My neighbor was heeding off to a presentation and his laptop (with presentation) was popping up porn sites and more.

The key component seemed to be NTORMS or NTORMS32.

While I killed it off, in the rush I didn't take notes.

As such, no reply is expected, but what home, search page and more hijacker did I remove?

PS. He now believes... He's using Firefox most of the time now.

PPS. The pest is gone for now. Sorry I didn't keep a good record. When you go for 120 second cures, it happens.

Could it have been:

ntorm ??

I don't want to post the link - but yes, there is a webpage with hardcore-lesbian-orgy photos/xxx-adult-photos/heat.

Just hoping for a better clue. That's what I get for not taking notes. Not sure what the pest's name was, but it dropped some items in the usual places as well as windows\system32 which were easy to spot because of size, date and "didn't belong" to Windows.

I wonder what it was since he had run Adaware, Spybot and Housecall (all updated) and they didn't kill it.

Thanks for looking,
