X940C Shootout Calibration Settings

In reply to: Sony XBR 75X940C picture settings

Until you can get professional calibration, try using the settings from the recent Value Electronics shootout which you can view images of in this post from the owner's thread in the AVS Forum.

Thank you for the information, but what I was looking for was a listing of the optimum settings for the typical home owner. For example they list the different settings: Standard, custom, cemia home, game, etc. but not which one is best for home use!

The thing is, when it comes to best, you get it done. Why?

In reply to: Thank you

Because the room's color and light can skew the results. One home could have plain colors but a room with blue or yellow walls can alter what works best there. This is a widely discussed area but folk need a reminder why calibration is needed for their set in their location.

Thanks again, my room is a dark grey with acoustically treated walls and ceiling and very low light level. It was designed as a home theater and/or den. It has an Aerial 7.1 speaker system, setup according to THX standards. Seating distance to TV is about 15 feet which I know is too far for a 75 inch set, but I have to live with it. Seating is all black leather. The TV is fed by a DirecTV receiver, and outside antenna on a 60 foot mast with rotator, preamp and the largest antenna that channel master makes. Sony AV receiver, Sony blu-ray player, Sony Mega changer and a Roku

Which is different from many other rooms I see.

The settings noted above (AVS Forum and CNET) are a fine start. Try them

I see calibration readings in the referred to post but not the settings in the SONY TV, itself. Please clarify what I am missing.

Yes, my set is the SONY XBR75X940C. I paged and paged and then found the settings posted by "Carlos" in a series of JPG's. I have used these settings and now seem to be "in the ballpark" as a start for my set. Thank you!

XBR-75X940C Settings

In reply to: XBR-75X940C

My attempt at a bookmark didn't work so I tried to find them again and did not. However, I did find another post from Carlos_E where he posted pictures of settings on a 940C at a shootout event. You can find them post #1389 by Carlos_E on 6_25_2015. I have a PDF of them but I am not having any luck attaching it to this reply.
