Calibration Notes: Prior to calibration the most accurate mode was Custom, which was very good is a bit brighter and bluer than I prefer for review. Sony's controls worked exceedingly well to adjust out the blue and dim the image to my 40fL/132 nit target at 2.2 gamma. Meanwhile color was also excellent so there was no need to use Sony's color management system.

HDR Notes: The best mode was once again Custom, with an EOTF that hewed nicely to the target without the mid-range brightness bump I measured in Cinema mode. Light output in that mode was superb at 1035 nits, albeit less than the blazing 1264 achieved by the much less accurate Vivid mode. Color metrics were a mixed bag however. the Sony didn't cover as much of the P3 color gamut as its quantum dot-equipped competitors from Vizio and Samsung, measuring 92.8% (which is also less than the 95% I measured on the 2018 Sony X900F). Color checker and the new Color Match HDR errors were also mediocre at 4.19 and 6.87 respectively -- 3 is considered "Good" and lower is better.
