Question

Sony X900E Television

Aug 14, 2018 10:58AM PDT

I bought a 75 inch Sony X900E television late last year and have a couple of questions.
For Auto Local Dimming and X-Tended Dynamic Range, should I set them to off, low, or high?
Secondly I was looking at the some of the 4K videos on You Tube that I accessed with the Home key and although they have brilliant colour, a lot of the videos are a little unstable and "smudgie". I have 5G internet. The best picture for 4K HDR that I have is still from my Planet Earth 2 disc.
Finally, another app that I am interested in is the Love Nature 4K one. It asked me for my Google password. I assume that I would have to pay for this app?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Answer
As to settings.

Try what they have at https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x900e/settings

I'm going to push this a little here but for now ALL videos off the web are mostly overcompressed works that you have to be forgiving on. Now for the best you can get today appears to be on the 4K BluRay discs.

Rtings.com gives a good baseline. I also peruse the model specific threads @ AVSForums. If the OP needs more specifics on where to go, hopefully they will ask Happy

To the OP>. 5G internet speed isn’t as relevant regarding PQ. BD source will always supercede a stream. Think of youtube as a bit of a steamy swamp with some good high points, just not top notch for PQ. Fun to find gems stuck in the mire though.
