Sony WEGA CRT, a good choice?

Ok, so from what I understand CRT still has the deepest blacks and sharpest colors among the cheap TV's out there (I'm not spending more than a grand) so I was considering this TV: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Sony-34-WEGA-Flat-Screen-HDTV-KD34XBR970/sem/rpsm/oid/147206/catOid/-12868/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

Aside from the weight it seems like an awsome TV (and a great brand) the size isn't an issue because i'm about 5 feet from the TV which is plenty close enough with my current 32" TV (albeit my current TV isn't widescreen). Also it supposedly handles SD pretty good which would be great since I still have a mountain of PS2 games i'm playing until I get my 360 and PS3. So is this a good buy, or am I mistaken in thinking this is a great TV?

The ONLY draw back is the size and weight!!!
CRT HDTVs have the BEST picture!!! OK I'm biased, I have a 47" RP-CRT HDTV and a 26" CRT HDTV.
I also have 25 years worth of VHS tapes and Laser Disks, CRTs have the BEST picture quality with SD video of all the HDTVs!!! John

But CRT also has better color, whites, and deeper blacks than LCD's and Plasma right? And HD will look as good right?
