Sony viaPOSo Bios update failed, the ? is.. . .

by SoShaan / April 10, 2007 5:35 AM PDT

Now it will not start, during the bios flash everything on the laptop suddenly went dead. It will not respond to the on botton, I know the power is getting through, cause the led on the dock lights up and it gets its power from the laptops ac power that is plugged only to the laptop. The a drive in on the dock not on the laptop. Im afraid i know the answer to the question, just need to hear it from someone else so i can stop working on finding a cure.

Is it done, no responce at all, not even the fan tries to do anything.

If I wanted to find out if that can be fixed I'd drop a line to ikenfixit.com since he's seen too many Sony's. Ask nice, be nice.

find a local laptop service center
by ramarc / April 10, 2007 6:10 AM PDT

if you approach them directly, they might be willing to reflash/replace the bios for you at a cheap price. my local service center has stacks of laptop mobos and he's willing to scavenge them cheap.

Im pretty sure that the bios chip set is not removable. It would have to be heated and removed/replaced on the board and is to much trouble. I have another laptop a compaq with a bad board, i would like to replace it. If you can give me any contact info. Thanks for your help...
