Sony Vegas Movie Studio 4.0

by duckman / January 1, 2005 1:11 AM PST

I'm trying the demo of Movie Studio 4 because it will capture my video in clips with scene detection. Is anyone else using this program and what's good/bad about it ?

Good Points:

Totally Stable - and runs well on my modest PIII 1GHZ / 256Mg Ram PC (unlike most NLE editing software I have tried!)

4 video tracks and 3 audio tracks.

Versatile "Pan & Crop" feature.

Comprehensive DVD authoring.

Pretty much every effect and filter I need.

Bad Points:

Not quite so beginner-friendly as some alternatives - mostly down to sharing the user interface with "prosumer" Vegas 5.0

No quick way to add multiple transitions to a slide show.

Quirky and confusing implementation of "ripple" edits

Overall:

An excellent tool - that does all that it claims without fuss or system crashes. Highly recommended!
