About a year ago HP failed to repair a new 3 month old laptop. It took 8 hours on the phone just to let them tinker with it and then they took it in. It returned in worse shape and would lock up in 5 minutes. HP's support told me they had done all they could and that was it. They walked. At 9 months after investing too many hours I wrote it off and if anyone asks I share this story in short form.
Sorry, HP lost me over this. If they can't and won't repair in warranty machines they won't be around long.

Hi. We've seen two laptops that are suitable for my daughter currently undertaking her A levels. Sony Vaio E series (SVE1512B7EW).CEK and HP pavilion G6 2210sa from Currys. The spec on the HP is much higher, 6GB, 1TB and i5 vs. Vaio's 4gb, 750GB i3. But the Vaio is a much smarter looking machine although it's £50 more. The battery life is much better on the HP too. The people in the shop said Sony's last longer - is this true? I think my daughter's fallen in love with the design of the VAIO but I think it's the battery life that worries me most. Any comments anyone?
