Sony Vaio Recovery utility - revert to XP?

Jul 18, 2007 3:40AM PDT

Hello everyone,

I upgraded our Sony (Vaio) VGN-N130G to Vista Home Premium in February. Since then it has become apparent that the computer is a bit slower but more importantly support for peripherals has been dropped (specifically by pinnacle systems (Dazzle and HD TV tuner)) or at least so delayed that it is no longer viable to wait. Unfortunately (being a tech-idiot) I forgot to make recovery CD/DVDs while the computer still had XP MCE 2005 on it. There is a “recover your computer to its original factory-installed operating system and software” option on the Vaio recovery center but I am not sure if that means XP will be restored or Vista Home Premium (as I installed it over XP). Anyone know?

Or anyone have suggestions to recover the computer to XP? I suppose I could get MCE 2005 off of bittorrent, put in my legit XP number and reinstall the Vaio software/drivers but I was hoping an easier solution (not likely to get me in trouble).

Either A Recovery Partition or Recovery Disc Will ...

...take the computer back to it's original factory condition.. If that was XP, then it will revert back to XP, including all other drivers and software that came originally installed.

Hope this helps.

Thanks...I wasn't sure but I'll definately do that. Vista is not yet what it is cracked up to be.
