sony vaio missing video driver

I have a friends laptop a sony vaio with xp home e=dition on it and she accidently uninstalled the video driver now when to laptop boots up you see the windows logo and then the screen goes blanck. I can get in to the bios I see the screen then but not after I exit. I tried to boot into safe mode but it does not boot in safe mode. Any ideas.Thanks.

Since Sony supplied the OS...

And with the OS so badly damaged you'll want to save all the files to a network, external drives and more then use the recovery CDs.

I got it fixed I had the laptop boot in a diagnostic mode the screen showed up and I installed the appropriate drivers.
