sony vaio burn/write issue

I have a sony vaio vgn-ns20es i have used convertx to dvd for the past 18 months and has worked successfully untill recently it wont burn to dvd-r via convert x and windows tells me it cant write to disc and i cannot create vaio recovery discs and there is no error codes ? can anyone help

You should have created the recovery disks long ago (some 18 months ago), of course, when everything still worked.

If there are no error codes in Device Manager for this device (you didn't tell where you looked) the most likely diagnosis is that you need to replace the drive (or use an external burner).

hi thanks for the reply,i did create a recovery disc when i purchased the laptop and i used the recovery disc to to take it back to factory settings i have also tried updating drivers but it tells me the drivers are the latest drivers and up to date so maybe you are right i might have to replace the drive
