Sony UPnP Framework

by illitus / March 5, 2005 4:18 AM PST

On start-up of my Sony Laptop, I always get a pop-up box that says "Sony
UPnP Framework encountered a problem and needs to close. I get this message
3 times. Does anyone know anything about this?? Doesn't seem to be
affecting any of my programs.

In some Sony laptops they had a script that disabled the Universal Plug and Play feature built in to Windows, for a while there I referred to it as Unplug and Pray. If you are running Windows XP and you have the latest updates this feature would have been disabled. To stop the pop-up go to Start > Run and type msconfig, go to the startup tab and the look for anything to do with UPnP and uncheck the box, reboot. When your system restarts you will get a warning dialog box, I forget the wording but just check the box and go okay, things should be fine.

I also encountered this problem. I think it has something to do with the plug and play or something like that. If you find an answer, please share them with me. Thanks.
