Sony TRV-33 Gray bars in playback mode?? help

Jul 29, 2007 9:16PM PDT

I bought a Sony TRV-33 camcorder a few years back and its not been used a whole lot. Well I was fixing to record some stuff from tape to dVD that I had put off, and in VCR mode when playing a tape. there are 4 ray solid bars across the screen spaced out to cover entire screen. You can ssee video where the gray isn't. I haven't actually tried to burn to DVD to see it it shows up on DVD also yet. It also appears on this one tape that there is No sound.

I ordered a min-dv camcorder cleaning tape, and am going to try that first. When I bought this camera , the quality was above the other ones. I'm not sure on all the specs, but most of cameras where using 600k something, and this one was over 1000k, which made the picture ALOT ALOT better. Enuff I would not own the others. Anyone run into this problem on a sony? what does it mean? also what would be a good replacment camcorder (sony) that I will not loose quality on, will not have to go back to the 600k screen, etc.

Also these gray bars only seem to be in playback mode. To turn the camera on, it is fine, also playback from a video card is normal.
