Question

Sony trinitron switching itself off

Mar 14, 2012 11:52PM PDT

My Sony KV-36FS76U is working ok in terms of picture and sound but it has started to switch itself. When it switches off the green led changes to red and back to green alternately, pressing the remote on turns tv back on. This can happen on an annoyingly regular basis but somedays just occasionally. Any help would be appreciated.

Search youtube for replace monitor capacitors and replace CRT capacitors.

There are many easy to follow videos there about replacing
capacitors in TV's and monitors. Capacitors are notorious for
going bad and causing temporary power loss. It won't be long
before your TV completely quits working.

Caution: capacitors hold their charge. They will shock you.
They can even kill you. Read about proper handling of capacitors
before you proceed.
