Question

Sony stand alone blue ray players vs ps3 blue ray?

Feb 1, 2012 6:51AM PST

Hello all, does anyone know if the stand alone Sony blue ray players are the same as the ones Sony uses in their ps3, but with fewer or more options? I just want to know if I am going to get just as good a blue ray player if I don't purchase the ps3?

There's a lot more questions.

If I were to buy a BD player I might opt for Sony's Google TV and BD player for 199 or less. I own the Logitech Revue and it's very nice but half the price and 720p vs. Sony's 1080p. These google TVs are less than a PS3 and probably not going to be taken away by the kids.

Both my stand-alone and PS3 play everything. The PS3 has wi-fi built in and plays games, but for me, I needed to buy the separate PS3 remote because I didn't like the game controller interface. I think the newer Sony stand-alone players have wi-fi too which is great for updating firmware. Both units are able to stream movies. If you play games, the PS3 is setup to connect th it's game center to download games. The audio output of the PS3 is a little funky to get right.
