Sony Sonic Stage

Aug 9, 2005 12:08AM PDT

I am using Sonic Stage 3.1 and when I try to create a CD I get 'media not present' message.
In My Computer the CDRW drive shows up as 'CD Drive' only. The 'make this recordable' box is ticked in properties so it's not that. I have checked the registry and the drive type is set to '2' (CDRW) but still no luck. I can write to CD-R OK using explorer. Is it Sonic Stage, Windows or what??
I am running Win XP Home, SP2 installed.

No fix known.

Sony only supports so many drives. While I have my formula for setting up CDRW drives on XP, this is mine and I can't speak for others. I use the 80 conductor cable, drives on CABLE SELECT, the latest CDRW FIRMWARE and motherboard drivers. It's my simple formula for my and my office machines.

You'll read the same story with Sony's camcorder software. I can't offer a solid fix outside of replacing drives which some owners will not do.

Cheers and try some other software.

I had this problem today and emailed Sony; they had me phone customer support. She had me download a file and install. This didn't work, so she had me install a free demo of RecordNow from cnet and then reinstall the first file. After that, "Create an Audio CD," "Create an MP3 CD," and "Create an ATRAC CD" were all found in my Sonic Stage transfer list.
