Sony PEG-SJ33 backlight

Apr 14, 2005 2:46PM PDT

Our 2 year old Clie PEG-SJ33 suddenly has no backlight. From what I hear the cost of repairs on these things is not worth it, unless this is a simple repair. The screen still works, just real hard to see without a flashlight lol. Anyone know of a simple cause of this light failure?

Worth getting it repaired?

Thank you Robert for the info. Is it worth taking in for repairs, or would it be better to put the money into a new handheld? I am reading here on the forum that the Palm T3 might be a good choice for replacement[we need to stay with the Palm OS like the Sony Clie uses]. I am not real impressed with the Sony Clie, this being the second one that failed[for different reasons] within the 2 years we have had one.

I am thinking it's a loose wire, as you suggested,Robert. If it goes off again I will take the back off and look for a loose wire. Thanks again for the help.

Repair rates for PCs are some over 100 dollar minimum and you are nearly 1/2 way there for a new PDA...
