There are few differences in the Canon "SD" series of cameras.
They may differ in:
Price
Wide Angle/Normal Angle lens
Have or Have Not a Viewfinder
LCD display size
Have or Have Not HD video capabilities
Here is a comparison:

I added the two newest cameras SD1300 and SD1400
They are not in stores yet.
That GE camera they got as a gift:
It should have a 1 year warranty by GE.
Consider taking advantage of the warranty.
..
I want to purchase a camera for my kids to use. Their grandparents purchased some GE camera that worked for about a month.
I don't want anything too expensive as they are 11 and 15. Somewhat responsible.
I like the Sony Cybershot DCS-W290, maybe for it's color, but I own a Sony Cybershot DSC-P52 (yes, ancient) and I love it. Not ready to give it up to them.
I was also looking at the Canon PowerShot SD1200IS and the PowerShot A1100IS, basically same qualities but price. Then as I was looking today, I came across Canon PowerShot SD780IS.
I'd prefer to stay under $200. We are not particular on mp's. I just want something that you can use rechargeable batteries, or a long lasting battery, produces decent pictures, uses an sd card (since they each have one, just taking up space) and won't stop working the third time we use it.
Thanks to anyone who could be of help.
