Sony NWZ-S638

May 3, 2009 1:13AM PDT

Hi

I'd like to buy a new mp3 player, and i found sony nwz-s638 very nice. I have never had any pmp from Sony and some friends told me (they have different older models), that they have problems with playing and copying mp3's into it.

My question is, will the player play all the mp3's i copy there or not because of some rights restrictions and so on? Does it support UMS or MTP? Or both of them? I don't want to use any software for managing the music there if possible.

ThanksHappy

i don't use the mtp interface,,,i prefer seeing my players as storage...and i have NO problem with mp3's. beautiful screen, easy navigation.

i know i'm not answering your query but i thought i'd give you my recommendation.

Sonys are GREAT

Have a A818 and A829 and couldn't be happier...well except for the lack of on-the-fly playlist creation (it's really a major irritant to me).

Superb sounding, great battery life, AAC(m4a)-friendly, easy to manage (I use MediaMonkey), no need for proprietary software (you can use Windows File Manager if you want). The S-series is supposed to be even better-sounding than my A-series, but considering how great my A8xx units are, I find that hard to believe.
