Sony NW-HD5 info

Hi

After seeing the mammoth posting http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-7813-0.html?forumID=71&threadID=131677&messageID=1485594 I think i'm going to get one... but not having much general knowledge about it all i have a rather basic question (apologies)

Will all the music on my computer (combination of mp3 and wma files) be converted to the Atrac format by sonicstage - or does it only convert the files in order to transfer them to the player, leaving the original files in their original format? I only ask because if i hate the sony player, and decide in the future to get another player, i don't want all my music to be in a useless format.
