Sony miniDV (pre-recorded to PC?)

May 10, 2005 3:12PM PDT

What I want to do is record something somewhere else, on the tape that on my camcorder. Once its recorded I want to get to my PC, use the DV>firewire cable and somehow get it on my computer, I dont really care what format, or how, Im just hoping I can get the video on my computer somehow, Most programs I seee, inlcluding the microsoft movie maker has some sort of capture deal. It's kind of hard to capture anything if youre camcord is attatched to your PC...

Is there a way to do this? Am I totally missing something? Thanks

Hint: You put the camcorder in play mode when it is attached

to the computer. It can then play back the tape so that the computer can capture the contents. When it's finished, unplug and turn off the camera. Or, take it out and shoot more video.

he links (in this case) to a very well organised FAQ/info page on video/DVD (with nothing on "special offer") and, if you're so inclined, to a more than interesting insight on life in Japan as seen through the eyes of an American....

btw Tim nice site, it's bookmarked Wink
