Sony MDR-EX71s really that good?

I'm an absolute bass nut and I'd like to invest in a good pair of earphones (not headphones). I keep hearing about how deep the ex71's bass is. I currently have the Sony MDR-E819v and I'm very happy with the bass on it but would like to know whether purchasing the ex71's would make a substantial difference in bass. Thanks.

Is the size of the drivers important? Like the one I use at the moment has 16 mm drivers.
