Sony LCD monitor not displaying anything...

Jul 22, 2006 8:29AM PDT

Hello!!! I have a Sony monitor that doesn't seem to be doing anything. I just got some computer issues squared away during which nothing was displaying on the monitor. I thought it was the computer. I brought the computer to a friend of mine and everything is okay now. He hooked up his old CRT and it showed everything. I bring the computer home, boot, and nothing on the monitor. Now, before you make the easy suggestion (bring the monitor to my friend to try on his computer), he lives 2.5hrs from me. I combined a visit with a computer call.
Now, the details with the monitor. It powers up, the screen comes on, but that's it. If the monitor is in standby mode, when I boot, the monitor doesn't change. I can turn the monitor off, put it in standby, or on. One thing which may help sort things out is when I press the ''menu'' button, nothing happens either. Frustrated since I feel like I'm missing something simple. The monitor was working fine prior to my computer problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

If the monitor works on their machine. . .

You can usually take "parts" to a computer store and ask them to plug it in. If it works. . .

I figured I would probably end up having to do that, but I thought maybe someone here could come up with something that I might be missing. I guess I'm off to the store tomorrow...
