Sony laptop problems with DVD-RW drive

by santhoshv / May 7, 2004 6:38 AM PDT

I have a Sony GRZ660 laptop, which comes with a DVD-RW drive. When I look in device manager it is listed as a Toshiba DVD-ROM drive, however. I have been unable to use DVD copying software as a result. Any ideas on what I need to do?

Use system restore to when it worked. Worth mentioning is an user that really torqued their Sony laptop by installing APSI drivers and who knows what else. I couldn't fix it and in the end, just used the restore CDs.

If the system restore doesn't work, try uninstalling the drive from the device manager and rebooting the computer. I had a Sony notebook and there was a conflict with the CD-RW drive and Roxio. After I uninstalled the drive, it work fine. You might be having the same problem.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
