Below you'll find the settings I found best for viewing the Sony KDL-50W800B in a dim room via the HDMI input. Your settings may vary depending on source, room conditions, and personal preference. Check out the Picture settings and calibration FAQ for more information.

Calibration notes: The Cinema 1 preset, much like that of the W850B I reviewed earlier, was extremely accurate to the point where i wouldn't be surprised if my review sample was doctored by Sony. Its gamma/grayscale remained nearly perfect after I reduced the light output to the 40 fL level I use fo reviews. The only thing I could do to improve it was to brighten gamma a bit at the bottom end, a minor tweak at best.

Color wasn't quite as accurate as grayscale and gamma, and since Sony doesn't use a color management system on the W800B, the potential for improvement there was limited. As on the W850B, my only option was to fiddle with Hue and Color to try to bring red's error levels lower without too much impact on the other colors. I was only marginally successful.

Thank you...I found it by going to home page and then settings as opposed to going to options on from the remote

Sports setting

Do you do any testing against fast moving sports to make sure things still look smooth and accurate? I am wondering if these settings are the best for sports as well?
