Sony KDL 40V5100 Sound Issue

Jan 16, 2010 7:40AM PST

I purchased a Sony KDL 40V5100 January 5th 2010 to use with my Playstation3. There have been random times that the sound would stop working so I found an update on sony's site to fix the problem. Now at random times the sound will go in and out in short bursts if that makes sense. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem? I don't think a brand new tv should have random sound issues so I will probably be returning it to best buy since sony's tech support hasn't been of any help.

The SLIM PS3 and HDMI cable issues. Blue jeans cables seem to know and will sell a better cable for that connection. Go figure.

Sounds fades out
Feb 1, 2010 10:41PM PST

I bought a Sony KDL46V5100 for Christmas. Sometimes while watching it, the sound breaks up and fades out for a few minutes and then slowly breaks up while eventually returning the regular sound. What is the solution for this?

HDMI Sound Drop Issue Solved with ER4.12-E328
Dec 30, 2011 9:59AM PST

I own both a KDL-52V5100 and KDL-40V5100, both exhibited the HDMI sound drop out for years. GOOD NEWS: As of Nov 2011, the ER4.12-E328 (Upgraded from E22Cool solved the issue for BOTH TVs. This was released April 4/20/2011. After 2 years, I was ready to trade them in, but all is good.
