What's out of sync for many is the cost of repair of many devices (printers, scanners, PDA, entire PCs) now exceed the cost of new.

A few years ago I sent in my Sony Clie handheld PEGS320 for repairs for a broken screen. Two months and after the cost of the screen, it came back. What happened to decency and just being freaking nice in the customer-satisfaction world?
Sony Customer Support offered 200 dollars to repair the screen. That was the total cost of the handheld at the time.
Anyone else felt this frusteration before?
