Question

Sony HT-XT1 has no signal...HELP!

Apr 7, 2015 3:47PM PDT

Just bought the Sony HT-XT1 today and have it connect to my Panasonic plasma. It's connected to HDMI 1 (the one with ARC) and my cable box, PS4 and Wii U are connected to the 3 HDMI input in the back of my sound base. However, when I turn my TV on, there's no sound or picture. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Answer
Try it without the soundbase.

If that works you contact the store or sony to resolve it by replacement or support.

Try what

What do you mean try it without the sound base? Like just have something plugged directly from the TV to whatever device it is? If that's the case, then that input works since I've had my cable box attached to it for years.

If it works without the Sony HT-XT1 then the store or Sony need to work your issue.

Try re-assigning the Sony device to another input

E.g. use the non-HDMI-ARC input. It's somewhat common knowledge that ARC doesn't work like it is supposed to, even when pairing w/ the same brands. YMMV.

You could also try utilizing a digital optical output from Panasonic HDTV back to the soundbar. That would be my preferred connection vs HDMI-ARC. It's simple and it usually works, although not always for 5.1. Won't matter much since you have a 2.1 system anyway.

Let us know how it goes.
