Can anyone tell me what their average volume setting is? e.g. I listen with the volume set on or around 30. Just curious.

Does this start at 0 or -#'s like some receivers?

Volume settings can very sooo much, person to person, speaker placement, dvd player & it settings, different dvd's can be encoded better.
Such as on my yamaha rxv 1500, if I stick in StarWars & set it to DTS I just have to turn it up to -35, if I put in my Star Terk DS9 I have to crank it up to -20. For me it can be anywhere from -40 to -15 depending on the dvd audio quilty, most of the time it around the low -30's

When you do a test tone to balance your speakers the effect of the volume control will really change if you set the test tone very low you will have to crank the volume all the way up but who cars means nothing as long as you can blow out your windows and move your couch dont stress about it stewee
