SONY HOME THEATRE HOOK UP HELP NEEDED!!!!!

Apr 7, 2005 11:35AM PDT

Hi, i have just recentley purchased the following sony
components and I am completely lost at how to hook them up. It's been quite a few years since I have done this, maybe I can get some help here. Thanks.

SONY KDF-60XS955 HDTV
SONY STR-DE997 RECEIVER
SONY SCD-CE595 SUPER AUDIO CD PLAYER
SONY DVP-CX985V 400 DISC CD/DVD PLAYER (I BOUGHT 2 AND NEED TOO HOOK BOTH UP)
SONY PLAYSTATION 2

These need to be used in conjunction with a hi-def digital cable box from comcast. I'm choosing not to use the cable card slot on the tv because of not being able to use "on demand, pay per view or the on screen channel guide". comcast does not yet offer a hdmi plug in their boxes but does have a dvi plug, so i can get a hdmi to dvi cable and use fiber optic for the sound.
I have the figured out butas far as the rack goes i need help. Also, I am also still going to be using a single dvd player for rentals, kids movies that get moved alot and borrowed, the highest cable it supports is s-video and rca jack sound. i appriciate and help i can get on here. Thank you.

You can daisy chain these two units together, or not. Then use Video 1, or 1+2 on the receiver. Definetly use optical digital cable.
Be sure to go into set up and activate dolby and dts audio at 96 khz. I wouldn't turn on the surround settings. Use the folder menu to go from say, disk 1 to disk 300. You can customize the folder menu with a frame from each dvd, unless the store bought disk already has one. Use the disk explorer on remote, top center switch, set to center, the blue font print.
This player has never failed to play the following burnt disks.
Ritek +/-r
Pro disk +/-r
Taiyo Yuden +/-r
SVCD
Read all you manuals.

First off get rid of comcast. and sign up with the dish network 811 system I pay $39.00 per month with the hi-def package and its awsome also you can install a cheap antenna and get all the local stations in hi-def and to make your system outstanding buy a d.v.d. player with a d.v.i. output and a giffen d.v.i. switcher so you can switch between your d.v.d. player and hi-def satellite box dont use componit vidio cables for some reason it just doesent work. also I just added VOOM FOR $5.00 PER MONTH more if you take my advice your d.v.d. movies will look awsome and you will have hi-def comming out of your ears please respond cadillacstew@aol.com
