As the electronics age there are capacitors that lose their capacity to filter out noise. Since repair is usually not an option on old gear our workaround is to use another sound recorder like those by Tascam and remix the audio in post production. If the camcorder is really old like over a decade we move on by replacing it.
Hi all, I have this aging camcorder and now I am starting to notice interference when plug an external mic into the jack. There can be a very loud hum to just static that occurs. This depends if I plug a mic directly into the port or if I am using a 3.5mm extension cable for a microphone.
I do not, however, get the same issue on a Canon DSLR I have which is pretty old too. I use the same cables and microphones and there is zero static or hum.
Is this a common issue that eventually happens to this Sony model camcorder? Is there a way to mitigate or fix it if this an issue?
