Sony HDR CX550V or Canon Vixia HF S20 for still images

I am looking for a camcorder that will take good quality still images. The sony and the canon are my top two choices but can't fgure out which one. Sony is suppose to take 12megapix and canon 8 but I read that the canons come out to a better quality. I am looking to use the still images in slide show or even 4x6 print out. Any other opinions that can help in my decision making... also looking for which one works better in low light settings.
