Sony HD-5 Button Cracks

Oct 13, 2005 9:40AM PDT

I'm looking for a good hard drive MP3 player, and right now I'm leaning to the Sony HD-5. However, I've heard numerous complaints about the player's tactile buttons cracking, sometimes just a few hours out of the box. I understand that these are just small cracks, but I do not want to purchase a player if I know it has durability issues like this.

Does anyone know what Sony is planning to do about this? Is this a problem with all HD-5's? Are the cracks covered under the warranty? Will Sony replace the buttons with ones that don't crack? Any information will help. Thank you.
