Sony HC46 users,your results(video quality& best way to crea

Hi ,
just upgraded from HC35e , it may be best selling but video was awful, outdoor out of focus and blurry and indoor not so good...
As I am typing i am waiting for my new HC46 to transfer to see results and by preview it seems great deal better.
it may be that I cant set the camera right or something else but i would appreiate any guidance (or link) to using the camera the best way.
I need help choosing best program to transfer my miniDV cassete via FireWire to computer and compress it to DVD quality , which program and encoding algorythm? (1h cassete approx. 1DVD)

What are your results like? Can you watch your recordings on PC fullscreen and make it good quality?

Anyhow help and links most welcome
