General discussion

Sony has lost it's a Allure.

This Whole DRM issue has completely destroyed my view on Sony. Even though i will continue to buy sony products and use my PSP and my TV, i'm never going to be sure with their products and i'm not going to be using their CD's anytime soon. Their approach is especially not very good because in essence people will just turn to downloading music illegally instead of risking it with a Sony CD. Companies have to protect their products, but Sony has taken this way too far. Give your thoughts.

Personally, I would rather buy my music from an online store (not sonys) than risk the Cds. Besides, you get your music faster online than driving to the store (unless you have dial-up).

agreed

as much as i miss having something tangible to hold on to, it's much easier for me to download music straight from an online store, than deal with buying a CD, ripping it, and possibly putting something harmful on my machine. I know that DRM is still annoying from downloading music, but I'm pretty happy with my little iPod and iTMS.

I really like the subscription model. Especially with a reasonable price like Yahoo. I have boxed up all of my cds (probably should just sell them). My wife likes the fact that cd towers are no longer in the living room (but now we have an old laptop as a media server).

I am in need of a new DV camera. I used to be a Sony guy. But Panasonic and Canon are getting a closer look as a result of Sony's mess.
