or at least storage media the camcorder uses for video will be very useful for us.
Generally speaking the s-video connector on a laptop is for outbound video (not inbound) only, so you'll likely not get anything to come inbound... And knowing which laptop will be useful for us as well.
Generically:
Analog media (8mm, Hi8, VCS, VHS-C, Beta, etc.) would have you using an "analog/digital converter" between the camcorder and computer.
Digital media
MiniDV tape requires a firewire/DV/IEEE1394/i.LINK connection with the camcorder's DV port and the cpmputer's firewire port (and USB won't work).
Flash memory and hard disc drive camcorders uses USB.
These can also use the analog/digital conversion method, but video quality may take a hit.
DVD camcorders mean finalizing the disc in the camcorder, and along with a DVD ripper, using a drawer loading DVD drive associated with the computer to rip the video...
Hello I hope someone will be able to answer a simple question regarding a problem I am having getting my laptop to recognize this camcorder
I am trying to help a friend transfer a recent video to my laptop. I have a program to edit the video once it is on my laptop, but am unable to get my laptop to recognize the camcorder. I have one cord which I belive is the S Video cord. I get an error message to check the cables. I have checked the cable and it is securely in both places?
ANY suggestions at all????? Very frustrating ![]()
