Sony Handycam + Firewire + PC = Mess?

by HandyCram / September 4, 2008 1:23 AM PDT

Hey folks, first post here, hoping someone out there can save my skin.

Boss gives me his Sony Handycam with footage from overseas project, asks me to edit together a little video out of it. He's got no cords, so I run out and grab a Firewire cord to connect it to my laptop. All is fine and good, but the video comes out on the computer side looking like this:

Viewing it on the camera screen, it looks fine. What gives? I don't know what to do, and the deadline to have this vid ready is looming.

Camera is a Sony Handycam (DCR-TVR 17 Mini DV)

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
