Sony Handycam DCR-TRV460 fault

by kenmainey / December 27, 2007 5:24 AM PST

Hello , I'm new to this forum so I'm sorry if this has been asked before. I bought this handy cam just over three years ago and it has done me very well. It is rather complicated with the number of setting available so when I'm in trouble then I often press the 'Easy' button. I chose this model because I have lots of anilog tapes from a previous camcorder and I'm able to use this Sony model to download these old tapes into my computer. My question concerns the fault that has developed in that there is no picture appearing though the view finder or on the screen so I'm unable to see what I want to record (yes, I have got the lense cap off but it looks as if I haven't). When I do record then the sound is recorded and all the other buttons etc that I press seem to work OK. I can playback old pictures onto the screen. The nub of my question is firstly is there a setting up feature that I've not got set correctly. Secondly, if there is a genuine fault with the receiving pixle screen (if that's what it is called), is it worth repairing?

In reply to: maybe this helps?

Thank you for this very useful link. I live in the UK and have contacted the UK Sony Central Service and will probably have the Handycam repaired free of charge. Thanks again. Take care, God Bless. Ken

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
