input and there is audio recorded...

If you are connecting the camcorder to a TV using an auxiliary composite video input (yellow RCA connector) along with the appropriate audio inputs (red - right audio; white - left audio), ensure that the audio level on the TV is at a good level. See page 38 in the manual.
If you are watching the video on the camcorder, be sure the volume level on the camcorder is at a good level. Refer to page 34 for the location of the volume +/- controls.
It might be something else - these are a place to start.
Since we are here, please consider transferring the digital video on the digital tape to a computer. Your Digital8 camcorder can be easily connected to a computer using a firewire connection.
Camcorder OFF.
Connect the camcorder's DV port (not USB) to the computer's firewire port (not USB) with a firewire cable (not USB).
Connect the camcorder's AC power adapter to the camcorder and a good, working wall AC power outlet.
If the computer is not already on, now is a good time to power up.
When the computer is at a stable desktop, power up the camcorder and put it into VCR mode.
Rewind the tape using the camcorder functions.
On the computer, launch the video editor. Windows has MovieMaker bundled. Macintosh has iMovie bundled.
Use the video editor to "Capture" or "Import" the video.
USB will not work. USB-to-firewire cable/converter/adapters will not work. Thunderbolt-to-firewire adapters work great. USB is used to get images from the flash memory.
DV, i.Link, Firewire and IEEE1394 are all the same thing. Location of the camcorder's DV/i.Link port is on page 206 - item 53. (The USB driver for streaming is not supported in "modern" operating systems.)
If your computer has no firewire (or Thunderbolt) port, and you can't (or won't) add one, then video transfer to a computer is still possible using an external "analog/digital converter" (or internal capture card). Legato, Black Magic Design and many others make them. The AV-out from the camcorder connects to the A/D converter's AV-in; the A/D converter connects to the computer using USB. There may be a little reduction in video quality because of the step through analog and over USB, but to won't be too bad.
So I have a Sony Handycam DCR-TRV340 and when I try using the VCR function on the camcorder to playback a tape, the video works however there is no sound. It was just working fine for me however I must've hit the wrong button in the settings section and I can't figure out how to reverse this. Can anybody help me out? Thank you in advance, it would be much appreciated!
