The voltage is too low so I would not bother.
However if the product manual documents USB charging then I worry because why would you ask? High speed USB chargers for the iPad and more are well established and if it supported USB charging I would plug it in without asking.

I was wondering if I can charge my handycam through the usb cable in a universal car charger? The A/C charger that came with has an output of 8.4v@1.7A, The universal charger has both the A/C input and the cig lighter input. 12v-24 input and output is 5v@2.1A. Will I cause damage since the amps are higher? I use it to charge Ipad with no problems. The handycam charges through the usb on my computer so it should do it with a car charger. Anyone try this yet?
