Sony Handycam DCR SX40 video-to-dvd problems

by jj9060jj / January 10, 2010 1:36 AM PST

Just looking for some help. I have windows vista by the way. Here is the story...when I connect to my pc, I can burn straight to a disc and it comes out just fine when played on vcr. Because of multiple family members, I also put all videos on the harddrive and then can segregate each to go with interested parties. The problem is, when I burn these files from the harddrive, they dont boot up on the vcr. Be aware, I have decent computer skills and little handycam experience. I have found the formatting the disc has two options and the second one where you lock the disc and can only write to it one time works better, but now i am getting the videos with no sound. Additionally, when burned straight from the camcorder, the videos appear much the same as a movie dvd where it is broken down nicely by video has its own framework(probably not the right term) where you can punch forward in the menu and bring up whichever one you are interested in. Where composed from the harddrive, it kinda categorizes them like a computer files and has no "flow". I hope you can follow what I am saying.

Thanks in advance for any help
