Sony Handycam DCR-HC1000 LCD blank screen

Hi, my LCD/viewfinder has suddenly gone blank ( shows nothing) I cannot operate the play /edit modes on it any more and have to use the TV for it. This is the case even in the tape mode.I can only use the viewfinder but the LCD no longer works. What could be the problem?
