Sony DVPNS70H DVD Player

Nov 22, 2005 12:26AM PST

Has anyone else who has this player noticed that the picture size decreases when the hdmi cable output is set to either 720p or 1080i? I have this player connected to my 42" Sony KDF-E42A10 LCD Rear Projection HDTV via a hdmi cable. The picture from this player is better than the standard progressive scan player that Sony has out which I originally purchased before returning it for this one. Is the smaller picture something I'll have to get used to or did I just get a lemon? I can't imagine people would be willing to pay more cash for a smaller picture and this player seems to be pretty popular.

I am hoping that is something that is easy to fix. Sorry I do not have an answer. I just purchased that exact TV and am getting a new receiver and speakers to match and was also planning to get that DVD player. I have been hearing some scary comments about many SONY's! And was thinking about getting an extended warranty. Its from a reliable local store not Best Buy or anything. I would greatly apperiate your comments. Thanks,.

Tech Support

I used Sony's online tech support yesterday and after an hour of trouble shooting he referred me to the phone support number because the problem needs "more" troubleshooting. I'm going to give them a call today and will update you afterwards. There is no way I should have 3 inch black bars above and below the picture.
